Case Study

Corporate Responsibility
International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI)

Strategy XXI has worked with the International Council of Toy Industries for over 15 years with a range of activities including strategic positioning, messaging and crisis communications.

The partnership is a long-term success given our in-depth knowledge of the global issues concerning the industry and our ability to provide client value across many areas, including our work with ICTI to help develop a program to improve labor conditions in the factories that produce toys - especially in China, where over 85% of toys are manufactured.

To ensure ethical manufacturing practices, we spearheaded development of a single, fair and consistent standards program, The ICTI CARE Process, and established the protocol for auditing compliance and developing corrective action plans.

The program has gained recognition as the prototype for successful, industry-led ethical manufacturing programs by UN initiatives, including the UN Global Compact.

Our track record with the toy industry led to our engagement by companies in other industries on supply chain issues, including Wal-Mart.
