Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)

Our programs with GAIN involved designing and implementing a strategy for private sector involvement in GAIN's work.

This included support in developing and executibg a private sector engagement program, as well as organizing and co-facilitating their "Roundtable Dialogue on Corporate Social Responsibility in the Food Industry,"

Strategy XXI also worked to design, prepare and launch their "Business Alliance for Food Fortification (BAFF)" in China. We prepared material for and reached out to U.S., European, South American and Asian companies to promote their involvement with GAIN.

Strategy XXI helped GAIN advance significantly its objectives on private sector engagement while also making important contributions related to advocacy, communications and resource mobilization. Major Strategy XXI activities included: partnership development with 20 food/ingredient companies and related industry associations; outreach to an additional 35-40 companies in the US, Brazil and China via direct contact and organization of a GAIN event at the July 19 IFT event; preliminary work to develop a national fortification alliance in Brazil; and outreach to six potential donor governments.
