Barbara Shrager provides strategic communications counsel to global and domestic clients in the public and private sectors. She focuses on issues management, messaging, stakeholder engagement and corporate responsibility. Certified in the Global Reporting Initiative sustainability reporting process, she regularly works with senior executives on their ESG (environmental, social, governance) and thought leadership programs.

Barbara has worked with clients in nearly every industry, including technology, healthcare, professional and financial services, manufacturing, food, retail, consumer products and non-profits. Her client experience includes Pfizer, Arizona Chemical, CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation), the Toy Industry Association, the International Association of Infant Food Manufacturers, Pinova Holdings, Henry Schein, and The Pine Chemicals Association.

Prior to joining Strategy XXI, Barbara was a Senior Vice President at GolinHarris where she was responsible for the business-to-business and technology practices. She founded and led her own communications consulting firm, was a partner in a leading branding firm, and held marketing positions at Avon Products and Nabisco.

She began her career as an instructor of Spanish language and Latino/Hispanic culture at the University of Delaware, LaSalle University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Barbara serves on the Board of Directors of the Financial Women's Association and has served on the Boards of UN Women - NY Chapter, the National Association of Women Business Owners - NY and the Executive Committee of the Women's Executive Circle of the UJA Federation. Barbara has been a guest speaker at events hosted by the American Marketing Association, Columbia University Executive M.B.A. program and other academic and professional events. She has authored several articles, served as a judge for professional awards, and been featured in Inc. magazine.

She holds a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from New York University.
