Barbara M. Burns is senior advisor to Strategy XXI specializing in formulating international public relations strategies, developing corporate positioning and messaging, and carrying out media relations programs in the United States and major media markets globally. She is experienced in country branding projects and has carried out several government campaigns in the fields of information, investment, trade and tourism.

She headed her own public relations consultancy in New York City for 15 years as a member of an international network of public relations agencies headquartered in Washington, D.C. She worked with several global corporations, including one of the world's leading beverage companies, as well as governments, such as the City of Helsinki, Finland; the City of Le Havre, France; the Netherlands, France and England. She served as the Commercial Representative for North America for the Port of Le Havre Authority, France's largest container port, for nine years during this period.

Previously, as Executive Vice President of GCI Group, Barbara was instrumental in building a worldwide PR network for Grey Advertising, in addition to managing multi-country client accounts. Prior to the Grey experience, she served as Senior Vice President, International for Ruder + Finn. Barbara has lived and worked in public relations in France and Brazil.

An active member of the public relations community, Barbara is former President of the New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and continues on the Chapter's Board of Directors. She has represented the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) at the United Nations in New York for a number of years and also has served on IPRA's Board of Directors. She is a member of OB-PS - Olave Baden-Powell Society which supports WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts). She is a recipient of the PRSA Atlas Award for Achievement in International Public Relations.
